Tips For Winning the Battle Against Oily Skin

  • 2 min read

BY CHELSEA SIMMONS

If you have oily skin like I do, when summer approaches, so does the dreaded face shine. For me, this is the worst part about the season (that, and mosquitoes). To help you enjoy your summer looking as fresh as a daisy, here are some tips I’ve discovered to combat excess oil.

I checked in with Christine, our Makeup Artistry specialist, to get some advice: First, she has noted that since she began using Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer, her skin has balanced out and is not as oily. Often, if there is not enough moisture in the skin, the sebaceous glands will become overactive. What a paradox!

If serious shine-control is still needed, a great first step is a mattifying primer under your foundation. Smooth Affair® Mattifying Face Primer helps to blur the appearance of pores and fine lines while balancing oil production to fight unwanted shine all day. Thisis a great option for those with acne-prone oily skin, as its advanced mineral technology that color-adjusts to your skin while soothing your blemishes.

If you’re still worried about excess oil once the rest of your makeup is complete, it’s time to grab a finishing powder. My personal favorite is the PureMatte Finish Powder. If you are a PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation fan, you will probably love PureMatte. It looks very similar to PurePressed Base and is applied in the same way, using the Handi Brush. Pure Matte uses rice starch to absorb any excess oils in your skin. I apply PureMatte as soon as I finish my makeup in the morning. This helps prevent shine from developing.

If you prefer a loose powder, go for the Amazing Matte™ Loose Finish Powder–it utilizes pomegranate extract to protect your skin while keeping shine at bay! To apply, tap a small amount of product into the cap. Use a Kabuki Brush to apply the product anywhere on the face that you want to mattify.

I don't know about you, but I feel fresh and ready to face the day (and night)! If you have any tricks for minimizing shine, please share them with us!
