Acne or Problem Skin?

First, let’s talk about nomenclature.  Why do cosmetic companies when talking about their products’ attributes refer to problem skin when they mean acne?  Because the FDA considers acne a medical condition and doesn’t take kindly to product claims about curing, preventing, treating or affecting the structure of any function of the human body unless the product has been approved as a drug.  If we were a drug company, we could hit the word acne head on; since we’re not we skirt the issue by using words like problem skin, break-outs, zits, etc.  There is sense behind the FDA’s stricture.

Without going through the proper approval processes, a manufacturer could claim anything and trick the consumer into buying products that either don’t work or are potentially dangerous.  The FDA is there to protect our interests.  However, it does get frustrating when as a manufacturer you know you have something that can help people and you can’t come right out and say it.  That’s the way I feel about our new food supplement, Skin Accumax. But I understand and will abide by the rules. Just let me say that we’ve seen amazing results with this nutritional supplement on problem skin.

Katie accumaxFour a day for 14 weeks seems to allow the skin to help itself and the result is a clear, healthy-looking complexion.

Your Guide to Getting Clearer Skin

Since I can’t talk too much more about this, what I can talk about are simple things that can be done to help clear the skin of distractions.

Why Nurture Your Skin?

I’m always amazed how little attention the skin, this miraculous part of our body, gets. We certainly fixate on facial skin but what about the rest of it?  It works as our body’s third lung and our body’s third kidney. It’s taking in oxygen and giving off carbon dioxide all day long; it’s excreting toxins while holding in moisture; it’s keeping unwanted things out and letting wanted things in and it’s creating an acid mantle made from sweat and sebum that produces an environment hostile to bacteria, viruses and other potential contaminants that could penetrate the skin.  It’s called an acid mantle because it’s slightly acid with a pH of 4.5.  The skin’s pH is generally between 4.5 and 6.2.Magic Mitt, Skin Accumax, BeautyPrep Face Cleanser

Tip 1: Stop Over-Cleansing

So here is my point.  Many people who suffer from skin conditions over cleanse and continually strip away that wonderful layer that the skin has taken such pains to create.  Using anti-bacterial soaps, soap in general, cleansing scrubs, alcohol, (I even met a women who uses Listerine as a toner!) are not going to help.  All this does is to make it easier for bacteria to thrive. So what’s my suggestion? We have a wonderful product called a Magic Mitt. It’s made from a special micro-fiber that only needs water to lift off makeup, debris, grime or anything else that your face may have accumulated throughout the day. And whether your makeup is pure enough to sleep in or not, it has still collected a lot of unwanted bits and pieces by the time you’re ready to go to bed. The Magic Mitt leaves the acid mantle intact and leaves your skin ready to fight the bacteria battle.

Tip 2: Use a “Spot Treatment”

What else can you do? Try a spot treatment (and I’m not including toothpaste here) that has been developed for break-outs, like our Zap&Hide Blemish Concealer. It’s a double-ended product with a balm on one end that contains sugar cane extract and tea tree oil to help calm-down that nasty eruption. On the other end is a concealer that continues the work of the balm but also conceals well enough that you may wear it alone or apply makeup over it. Of course, we recommend our mineral bases because we know that they allow the skin to breathe and function normally. All this helps your skin which is nothing short of a healing machine.

Tip 3: Hydrate your Skin

Finish off with a spritz of our Balance Hydration Spray that was designed to be pH neutral.  It contains grapefruit, orange, chamomile and algae extracts with an added bonus of green tea extract. Studies have shown green tea to be very effective for problem skin. Use it to finish off your routine or as a moisturizer if you have oily skin. The smell is divine and it’s perfect for plane travel.

4 Acne-Fighting Beauty Essentials

So, in a nutshell here is what I would have in my medicine cabinet if I were waking up to break-outs every day:

  • Skin Accumax Nutritional Supplement (four a day for 14 weeks).
  • A Magic Mitt used morning and night with lukewarm water.
  • Zap&Hide Blemish Concealer to zap and hide.
  • Balance Hydration Spray.

Hope this helps!

  1. I am VERY intrigued by the Skin Accumax product as I am turning 30 this year and have tried everything out there and would prefer something more natural. I already use your mineral makeup and would love to try the Skin Accumax, but when I clicked on the link it just went to the main page and when I tried to search the name, this is the only thing that came up Amazing Matte-Loose Matting Powder Amazing Matte-Loose Matting Powder
    Oil absorption powder $36.50
Blotting Paper Refills Blotting Paper Refills
    Oil absorption paper refills $5.50
Facial Blotting Papers w/ Compact Facial Blotting Papers w/ Compact
    Oil absorbtion papers $14.00
    EEEK! Help!?

    1. Hi Dora,

2 capsules contain 37.50mg, so each capsule contains 18.75mg of Diindolylmethane.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

  2. Hello, I use all the Jane Iredale making and have been for many years. I have a condition called Milia and go to an anestitician nce a month for extractions and cleansing facials. The dermatology association she is associated with ONLY recommends and sells Jane Iredale makeup. Would your new product help a condition like Milia since it is a skin problem connected with pores that do NOT open and perspire properly, therefore causing “whiteheads” or hard “pearls to form. I am also being treated for Multiple Myleoma Plasma Cancer. Will this pill effect my chemo treatment? I am 68 years old…wish I were 30! LOL. Thank you for your reply. Lyn

    1. Hi Lyn,

We are so sorry that you are dealing with these health issues. We would recommend speaking to both your dermatologist, for the Milia, and the doctor administering your chemo treatments before adding any supplements at this time, to be sure that they are safe for you as you undergo treatments and won’t interfere. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you for being such a great friend of jane iredale and wearing us for so many years! Sending you lots of love and warm wishes and hope that you are feeling better soon!

  3. My wife just heard about Jane Iredale and now that’s all she wants to hear about. It’s good to see that the products at least appear to be very effective (and they look great on her). Just wanted to see what the hype was about.

    1. Hi Barbara,

Thank you for your questions! We would recommend talking with your doctor before adding any supplements to your diet while nursing.
      Best wishes!

  4. Why the sugar in these capsules??????One of the worst things you can eat and many people are sensitive to it (diabetics). Also, the magnesium stearate is questionable — I’ve read that it’s toxic.

    1. Hi Lynn,

I’m so very sorry for the delay in answering your question, thank you for being so patient! The sugar component in Accumax is an excipient (an inert substance used for the adhesive quality needed for the preparation of pills or tablets) within the vitamin A palmitate. It is manufactured by BASF, in Europe, which is by far the best quality on the market. Each capsule has only 2.66 mg of the vitamin A complex and the sugar component percentage is less than 1% per capsule. At this level it is not considered problematic for diabetics, but it is of course essential that anyone with any health issues, sensitivities or concerns consult with their doctor before taking a herbal supplement.

The magnesium stearate is 6mg per capsule. It is a well established and safety tested excipient and has FDA GRAS “Generally Recognized As Safe” status. Safety data confirms that there is a safe profile even at 2500mg/kg body weight.

We hope that helps answer your question and please let us know if you have any further questions about Accumax!

    1. Hi Laureen,

  5. Hello, I justed wanted comment and ask about skin accumax. I have been taking it for 9 weeks now, 4 capsules per day. At this point, I can honestly say I don’t think I have seen a huge difference in my problem skin, only sublte improvement. Has this product ever NOT been the answer for someone? What is the longest a person has gone taking skin accumax until they see results?

I feel I should also mention the products I use, which are only: the Mitt, Jane Iredale make up, pure filtererd jojoba oil from heather loraine, witch hazel and tea tree oil.
I also eat very clean plant-based organic foods, drink plenty of water and am very careful with skin hygiene. I am 20 years old.
    Am I missing something?

What about skin accumax, what would be the word of advice from this point?

    1. Hi Michayla,

Thank you so much for commenting with your question! We have never seen someone not have a result. We do recommend 14 weeks as the baseline for results, so hang in there. It has taken some people longer but they have seen great results in the end. Also, we recommend that you take Skin Accumax with food. You also may want to check the jojoba oil to be completely sure it is noncomedogenic. We hope this helps and that you begin seeing results in a few more weeks! Please let us know how things progress :).

  6. Hello again,

Here I am after 14 weeks, four pills a day. I look at my skin now and it, unfortunately, looks the same as it did 14 weeks ago.

I am hesitant to continue because skin accumax is not cheap. I noticed some of the testimonials took s.a. for over 6 months, would you recommend I continue?

I have about 60 capsules left, should I keep taking 4 per day or reduce to 2 ?

I really want this product to work for me.
Any advice at all would be appreciated.

    Thank you for reading

    bless, bless

    1. Hi Michayla,

We’re glad you’re giving Skin Accumax a chance! For optimum results we recommend taking four capsules a day for 14 weeks and since everyone is different, it may take longer for some. We think it’d be best if you continue with the remaining capsules at four a day. Of course, if you don’t see any changes once you finish your current supply (we hope you do!), our Personal Shoppers can help you with a return or exchange.

  7. Can you take these tablets whilst pregnant? I know the doctor will probably say no but is there anything harmful in the ingredients?

    1. Hi Kelly,

No, we recommend not taking while pregnant. You should always consult your doctor before adding any supplements and vitamins while pregnant.

  8. Hi,

I am back to report updates on my previous posts. I went ahead and continued with skin accumax 4 a day, going on my 7th month.
Although it took awhile, I wanted to make it known that it DID in fact work!

The last two months were when it really kicked in. Now, my skin looks better and better everyday. It is totally smooth, just waiting for redness to fade, and with Jane Iredale make up, my complexion looks better than ever.

So, bottom line, skin accumax works. For some, it will take time. But it is absolutely worth it. I think it is safe to say I had the most stubborn of skin, and truly, this is the only single product that has EVER worked for me.

Thank you for skin accumax. It has changed my life.

    1. This is so wonderful to hear! Thank you for the update Michayla and we’re so glad you’re seeing amazing results.

  9. Hello- How diverse is the Skin Accumax in terms of which types of acne it heals? Long story short, I’ve had acne for about 10 years (started when i was 14ish- am now 24), initially doc put me on specific pills for it, then birth control…it was OK for a few years and then broke out again two years ago. I stopped taking every medicine and changed my diet. My face looks pretty good and I don’t have any breakouts- if so, it’s one or two small zits from time to time. What I do have pretty regularly is tiny little bumps under my skin that appear to be blackheads but you can’t see them (the blackheads) I regularly use Enessa for skin care (which has dramatically improved my skin tone and texture) and a mix of Jane Iredale makeup and 100% pure makeup. As Accumax is not cheap, I am curious if you have a recommendation? Or, if I do try it and it doesn’t work is there any type of money back guarantee or opportunity to exchange for something else? Thanks in advance!!

    1. Hi Cari,

We’ve seen amazing results, even with people who have had skin issues for a long time and have tried other things. Have you had a chance to read our customer reviews? You can find them here Our e-commerce store does offer a money back guarantee after trying Skin Accumax for the recommended 14 weeks.

We hope this helps and that you have finally found something that will work!

  10. If I start taking Skin Accumax, do I continue to take it after my skin clears? I know a lot of acne meds are stopped after a period of time so I was just wondering.

    1. Hi there,
This is a great question. First of all, since this is not a med, but a nutritional supplement, there is no harm in continuing to take it. However, if you wish to stop or reduce once your skin has cleared, you will need to experiment a bit. Start by reducing the dose (perhaps from 2 capsules twice a day to two, once a day). If your skin stays clear, you could try reducing further or eliminating them altogether. We have seen cases where the skin stays clear, and some where the acne returns, so it really depends on the individual. If your skin starts to act up, then begin taking them again. Good luck!

      1. Hi, I’m taking Accumax for more than 2 years now. I didn’t have a major acne problem, but I definitely have a problem oily skin. Accumax helps reducing breakouts to a minimum. However I’m worried about taking it for a very long time. All the problems come back when I stop taking it.

Are there any professional studies demonstrating that Accumax can be taken for years, through the lifetime?

        Thank you.

        1. Hi Alida,

There is no time limit on how long you can take Skin Accumax and no risks long term. You can take if forever. Unless for some reason your doctor tells you differently due to a personal medical issue.

          We hope that helps!

  11. Hello,
I just started taking S.A. 4 days ago.. I’ve had very bad acne since I was 16 and I am 31.. What I wanted to know is if I can use SA with another supplements? Im using omegas, collagen, nature’s bounty skin, hair and nails, and cat’s claw?

    1. Hi Lauren,

We would recommend asking your doctor or dermatologist about what supplements you can take while on Skin Accumax they will be able to provide you with the best answer for your body. Please let us know about your results!

  12. Ive had acne for almost 20 years, tried everything including rosccutane. I’ve been taking SA for 5 days and my skin is worse than ever, is it normal for it to get worse before it begins to improve?

    1. Hi Emma,

It is common that things may start looking worse before they look better. We recommend using Skin Accumax for the full 14 weeks to see optimal results.

  13. How long should I stop using Accumax if I’m planning to get pregnant?
I have been taking Accumax since November of last year until now and I have reduced the dosage to 2 pills a day. Also I use Environ skincare products that contain vitamin A.

    1. Hi Shama,

We would recommend you consult your doctor to ask when it is best to discontinue use of products containing vitamin A.

  14. i’m on my 2nd week taking S.A.. In my 1st week it got worse than before.. But now it’s getting better.. Hope within 3 months i’ll see an amazing difference..

    1. Hi Mishelle,

Skin Accumax shouldn’t increase appetite or cause weight gain as it is simply a supplement to your current diet. If you are noticing changes in your health they may be coincidental and we would recommend consulting your physician.

  15. Hi there, I really keen to start using the advanced nutrition programme and wondering if you could answer a few questions. I don’t have acne but do tend to get spots now and again. I am getting married in July and looking for something that will make my skin look really healthy. Could I use the Accumax or the skin complete? Many thanks

      1. Hi Nikki, we only sell Skin Accumax, is Skin Duo sold by another company perhaps? If so we would recommend comparing the ingredients and consulting your physician who may help you determine what is best for your skin.

    1. Hi Nikki, Skin Accumax is a fantastic supplement that promotes the overall health of your skin. You may find that it is the perfect solution for you.

  16. Hi,

I’ve been taking skin accumax for the last 10 weeks now (2 tablets a day) and haven’t seen any difference to my skin at all.

I know the recommended dosage is 4 tablets a day for 14 weeks, however I found that the tablets upset my stomach when I took this amount, even though I took the tablets with food as directed, so I decided to reduce the dose to two a day and felt much better.

Anyway, I was wondering how long it would take me to see significant results since I’m only talking 2 tablets a day, as for some reason this is all I can tolerate ?
I’m currently getting chemical peels also, and the woman doing them told me the tablets would still work, however it would just take longer. Is this true ? Or is taking only two tablets a day a hinderance to my progress ?

    1. Hi Nicole, you will see results still taking only two capsules, they will just take much longer it could take between 3-6 months as opposed to 14 weeks.

  17. Hi!! I want to know after taking skin accumax for 6 month..if I stop and plan for pregnantcy..will it effect my pregnancy by taking skin accumax for too long??

    1. Hi Vivian,

We recommend you consult your doctor. We do not recommend Skin Accumax for women who are pregnant or planning pregnancy unless they check with their doctor. Women who are pregnant or breast feeding are usually advised not to take Vitamin A, which Skin Accumax has.

  18. Hi,

This is what I am looking for. I have horrible acne and I hope this Skin Accumax helps me. I have to seek the help of my dermatologist first if taking this supplement is good with my acne condition. I am hoping for the best. Thanks!
