Great to Take Care of Sunscreen Shine
Not High SPF Protection
Thank you for your comment! We can assure you that neither Powder-Me SPF nor any of our products contain toxic particles. We only use ingredients that are safe and of the highest quality. In addition, natural ingredients are sourced in a sustainable and ethical manner. We purchase all of our ingredients from reputable and trusted suppliers and are confident in their sourcing, safety and efficacy. In addition Powder-Me SPF and our other loose powders have undergone stringent toxicological review to assess any potential inhalation and risk associated with these products and absolutely none exist based on generally accepted and conservative measures. Toxicological testing is complex and costly, and is not required. It is generally not done for cosmetic products, but we chosen to do it to address inhalation concerns and a commitment to fully ensure that our products are safe. As for sunscreen testing, everyone is different and we understand that you may not find that an SPF 30 provides you with sufficient protection. However, the fact is that each of our sunscreen products, including Powder-Me SPF, undergo a high level of independent testing to ensure that they satisfy the UVB, UVA and water resistant requirements mandated in every country we sell in, including Australia. The only aspect of the Australian sunscreen regulation that is slightly stricter than the U.S. FDA’s is the requirement that a product’s UVA protection be at least one third as strong as its UVB protection. While this requirement was adopted in Australia in 2012, our products have provided this level of protection for many years, since at least 2006, when it was adopted in the EU. Under the Australian sunscreen classification system, Powder-Me SPF would be classified as a drug product and in order to market it in Australia it would have to undergo the drug registration process. This is a significant undertaking and while Powder-Me SPF could certainly be registered, we have chosen not to pursue registration at this time. We hope this provided clarity to your concerns!
Thank you for your review and for the opportunity to discuss your concerns! jane iredale is a long-time supporter of the EWG and one of the original signers of its Compact for Safe Cosmetics. However, while the EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database is a valuable tool, unfortunately it’s not always accurate. Powder-Me SPF is a safe and effective product. Its negative score on the Database is unwarranted. All its individual ingredients score between 0 and 2 (the range 0-2 is “Low Hazard”) except for Titanium Dioxide, which scores a 3 (the range 3-6 is “Moderate Hazard”). Yet the overall product score is a 7. This negative score is also completely out of line with the scoring of other similar products on the Database, including jane iredale’s Amazing Base, where the individual ingredients score the same way they do in Powder-Me SPF, BUT the overall product scores a positive 3. Putting aside the inaccuracy and inconsistency of the Database scoring – there is no scientific justification to support the claim that Powder-Me SPF is unsafe in any way. EWG has indicated that loose mineral sunscreen powders should not be recommended because they contain nano-sized particles and are potentially unsafe due to the possibility of inhalation. However, this does not apply to jane iredale sunscreen powders as none of our powders contain nano sized particles. More importantly, in order to ensure that our powders are safe and do not pose an inhalation risk, we have had our powders professionally tested and analyzed by a toxicologist who has made a definitive safety finding. We go to great lengths to ensure the safety and integrity of our product formulations. We would never incorporate an ingredient into a product that is harmful in any way.

My favorite sunscreen!
Powder Me SPF 30 Dry Sunscreen Translucent
It sounds like Powder-Me SPF is perfect for your active lifestyle! We are happy to say that we have three shades, from lightest to darkest: Translucent, Golden and Tanned. We recommend you try Tanned next time!
We're sorry to hear Powder-Me SPF isn't applying correctly! Once the plastic safety seal (inside) is removed, it’s best to shake the product upside down to get powder into the sponge. We admit, at first, it does take a few extra dabs for the product to start coming out. However, after a good amount of dabs on the skin, the applicator sponge will be saturated with powder, making it easy to pat on! Using a brush is certainly an alternative option. Powder-Me SPF doesn’t have shimmer, and you can always add a touch of your favorite 24-Karat Gold Dust! You mentioned that your skin looked dull, and it's possible you'll need to try either Golden or Tanned since these are tinted. If you’re interested in an exchange, please call our Personal Shoppers at 877-869-9420 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Love this product!

Not a sunscreen at all!
We are so very sorry this happened to you. Powder-Me SPF has been rigorously tested to ensure that it works. Due to the high altitude and the reflection from the snow, skiing and snowboarding on Mt. Rainier would increase your normal sensitivity to sun, and this may have contributed to the burn. In such extreme conditions, additional protection such as long sleeves, may be necessary. Once again, we are very sorry.
good on scalp!
Hi there, We are sorry that your applicator didn't hold up. Please contact a Personal Shopper at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1-877-869-9420 for a replacement applicator free of charge.
