Keeping Your Winter Glow Around the Clock

  • 3 min read

BY SHAWN TOWNE

It's interesting how excited we get as the seasons change from warm to cool. So often the winter evokes lovely thoughts of snow-covered trees, crackling fireplaces and holiday cheer. Unfortunately, winter also means less humidity and turning on our heaters which dehydrates our skin. And as the cold weather makes us crave our favorite warm winter drinks like hot cocoa and pumpkin spice lattes, we always seem to forget that the sugar and caffeine in these drinks dehydrates our bodies even further which also takes its toll on our skin. The result is dried, cracked hands, chapped lips and itchy sensitive skin that looks dull and textural. And the longer winter persists, the harder it becomes to achieve a fresh skin glow. So how we can we enjoy our winter wonderland without becoming dull, parched and shriveled? Let’s look at a few “around the clock” solutions for winter skin:

When You Sleep:

Very often we lose moisture while we sleep, especially if central heat or radiators are warming the room. Start by using a humidifier which will add moisture back into the air and keep your skin more hydrated. And never forget to wear a night cream. Our BeautyPrep Moisturizer is a great choice loaded with Rose Essential Oils and Rose Stem Cells that drench you skin with moisture and sooth irritation while you sleep. You’ll definitely notice a difference in the morning.

In The Morning:

Always start your day by drinking a large glass of water as soon as you wake up. No matter what the conditions, we typically loose water while we sleep so start by rehydrating. Next, turn down the temperature in the shower. Hot water can tend to deplete our skin of moisture. When you do your morning skincare routine, we recommend adding BeautyPrep Hyaluronic Serum which is made from two different kinds of hyaluronic acid that enable your skin to retain 1000 times it’s weight in moisture. You’ll love how silky smooth it makes your face feel!

At Breakfast:

As we mentioned earlier, caffeine and sugar can really take their toll on our skin so consider leaving off that second cup of coffee. Along with your breakfast, we recommend taking Skin Omegas. These powerhouse supplements increase skin’s ability to retain moisture and they reduce irritation. You’ll find your skin will stay more hydrated and look less textural.

Your Makeup Routine:

When it comes time to put on your makeup, hydrating products can make a huge difference in the way skin looks and feels. For foundation, Liquid Minerals is perfect for creating a more hydrated complexion. Made with a wonderfully humectant liposome technology formula that swells the surface of the skin creating a moist, dewy finish, Liquid Minerals is the winter go-to for makeup professionals. For a hydrating blush, try our In Touch Cream Blush. Made from super moisturizing Macadamia Oil, this formula will give your cheeks a beautiful glow.

Every Hour:

We all must touch up and maintain our look throughout the day. This is a great opportunity to remind ourselves to hydrate. Remember to drink some water every hour if possible. And keep your lips hydrated with LipDrink Lip Balm SPF 15. This petroleum free formula is packed with nourishing essential oils and you’ll love the refreshing Lemon flavor. And finally, don’t forget to give yourself a spritz of D2O Hydration Spray which adds moisture and soothes the skin with Chamomile and Ylang-Ylang.

Remember that every little element of moisture we can add works cumulatively in our daily routine. Start with one and then add another each week and let us know your results. Happy Winter!
