Tips for Sweat-Proof Makeup

  • 3 min read

BY CHELSEA SIMMONS

Some situations call for long-lasting, melt-proof makeup, and summer is one of those times. We love spending time outside, but enduring the heat and protecting against sweat and shine is essential. Whether exploring nature on hikes, enjoying time with friends at barbecues or and even taking our fitness routine outdoors, we have a few tricks for giving our makeup staying power. With these sweat-proof makeup tips, your makeup routine will be ready for the season. sweat-proof makeup essentials

Keep it Simple

When it comes to exercise, there are two types of people. Those who go makeup-free and those who don't. Sure, there are perks to working out with a clean face, but if you're like us, and want a little extra oomph when getting fit, the key is to keep your makeup simple. Our favorite sweat-proof makeup look starts with a great moisturizer (like BeautyPrep Moisturizer) only uses three products.
  • Retractable Brow Pencil: The easiest way to look finished in seconds is you define your brows. Our brow pencils come in three, water resistant colors and the fine pencil tip allows you to create a naturally full brow look.
  • Eye Shere Liquid Eye Shadow: We love using Eye Shere on a daily basis because they have serious staying power, and that's why it's the perfect water resistant formula to wear if you know you're going to sweat. Try the shade Champagne Silk for the perfect no-makeup makeup look.
  • PureGloss Lip Gloss:Our favorite way to glam up our melt-proof makeup look is to add a hint of shine with PureGloss Lip Gloss. It's moisturizing and gives the perfect sheer color for a simple yet stunning finish.

Use a Primer for Oily Skin

When out and about on a hot day, sometimes our face starts to look a little shiny. To make sure we stay selfie-ready throughout all our summer activities, we like to apply an oil-reducing primer like Smooth Affair for Oily Skin. Global Makeup Educator Edgar Dominguez also recommends using "Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer, topped with Beyond Matte for the ultimate sweat-proof resistance." Dream Tint also provides SPF 15 broad spectrum sun protection.

Stay Clear of Creamy Eyeliners

We've all had the experience of eyeliner melting into your eyes, so to avoid this, Global Makeup Educator Hannah Hatcher says steer clear of creamy products: "Anything with a creamy base will want to move as your body heats up. So, stick with liners that have a powder finish (like Mystikol) and liquid liners."

Set Your Makeup

As always, set your makeup with Hydration Spray to lock the minerals in place. Our favorite two Hydration Sprays for the summer months are Balance Hydration Spray, which helps balance oil in your skin, and POMMISST Hydration Spray because it contains Pomegranate Extract, a powerful antioxidant that helps fight free radical production caused by sun exposure.

Pat Don't Rub

When you want to touch-up your makeup after you work out, or even after you go swimming, Product Trainer and Pro Artist Coordinator Christine Orcutt Savolis says, "Blot any sweat gently with a towel (DO NOT RUB)." Then, spritz Hydration Spray to refresh your skin, let it dry and retouch as needed.

Just Go With It!

If you can't beat the heat, then embrace it. Enhance your already dewy looks with a rosy glow using In Touch Cream Blush. You know how Hannah said creams heat up with your body, well the warm temperatures will give this blush an effortless, natural look. Talk about glowing from within!
